Preface: I started this damn post nearly two weeks ago. Then I got sick. Then our girls came back from my parents house causing me to lose all of my freedom, and then school and traffic commenced and "Oh my goodness how did I EVER find time to write a blog", set in. Today, I took my decorations down, so now I'm back to REAL reality. Hence, the late "Porkmas" post. But I do want everyone to know that I'm adding to my original post while three six years olds are playing some SERIOUS Barbies right behind me. Yes, I am that talented. It wouldn't bother me a bit except that I would like to be typing everything that they are making their Barbies say, rather than expound on my original, lame, post about my Christmas. It's good stuff, I tell you. I'll save it for later, trust me. For now, you get my Christmas Vacation:
We spent this Christmas in Louisville, Ky. It's my home town; where my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews live. I have an uncle and aunt that live there and an uncle and aunt that live just a couple hours away. I also have a step brother and cousins that live there or close by and had cousins visiting from Virginia. And, as a bonus, I got to see my new nephew, Jackson, that I had not yet seen. Because I'm a horrible aunt...for now. Years from now, I'll take him out to his first strip joint trip down here in HOTLANTA and buy him shots and Jack and Cokes. You know, to make up for not seeing him for nearly six months after he was born. It's the least that I can do.
As usual, the trip was kind of like trying to kill 30 calling birds with one stone and we did a pretty good job of that; having most of our family in one house for Christmas Eve. That made me SUPER HAPPY. That was my wish. And we somehow made it happen! We also were able to miraciously break the Guinness World Record for serving the most bacon/sausage, aka "Nature's Candy" (as my brother-in law refers to it and I must concur with him!) items during Christmas. We had bacon wrapped dates, sausage balls, egg (and sausage) casserole, egg (and bacon) casserole, mini-rye pizzas with sausage, and biscuits with cheddar and bacon atop. Who could ask for more? Well, maybe those that don't eat pork, I guess. Our family opens our arms to all religions. We just might not be able to feed you at Christmas.
Here are a few pictures of our Christmas adventure. There are NO pictures of bacon or sausage, sadly. I'll take some next year, for sure!

| My two favorite things; my nephew, Jackson, and my Michelob Ultra |
| My niece, Delaney, and my marshmallow eating daughter, Elise. I could eat both of them up like a marshmallow! |
| FAMILY IN ACTION! THAT'S WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! |
| THE GIBSON GIRLS! |
| I can't really come up with a caption for this other than, typical family time. |
| My Mother's Side of the Family, et al. |
| My Dad's side of the family, et al. I would have posted another picture but the other looked like my boobs reached across my sister, and they may well have been. This is a great picture, though, because the man third over from the left is the oldest living relative that we have in our family; my great uncle Roy Rogers (aka Bud). I am greatful that we were able to spend time with him. |
| One of my favorites. My two nephews; Ben is the one throwing one back and Will is the Justin Beiber look-a-like. "I HAVE BEAVER FEVER!", as my Dad says. And yes, he said, "BeaVer!" |
But this is my all time favorite. My brother-in-law Andrew, on the left and my cousin, Adam on the right. They unknowingly wore the same sweaters last year and, being the sports, and loving couple that they are, wore them again this year. This is a tradition that just keeps giving and giving. I know they feel the same way!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and enjoyed as much Nature's Candy that their stomach could handle! |
